Highlights from 'COP27: Less chat. More action.' | Seismic

Seismic is one of the world’s leading B Corp advisory teams.

Providing best impact, stakeholder returns, customer relationships, investor attraction and talent retention, we use the B Corp framework to create business value from the outset.

One of the principles of B Corp is continuous improvement. In line with this, the latest version of the standards and a new approach to certification come into play in 2026. At Seismic we are on the pulse of the changes so that we can help you to translate what this means for your business.

52% of businesses fail on their first attempt to certify as a B Corp, whilst 100% of our clients we’ve helped through the framework have certified on their first attempt. Our approach allows your teams to minimise their time input, staying close to the whole process for maximum learning.

We excel in B Corp because we bring together sustainability strategists, communication consultants and carbon experts to extract the most value in the least amount of time, enabling your business to succeed through commercial and environmental activation.

FAQs

How can my organisation become a B Corp?

To become a certified B Corp, a for-profit business must demonstrate high social and environmental performance by meeting a set of minimum requirements that are tailored to their company based on their size and sector. This involves addressing stakeholder views, taking action against material topics and meeting legal requirements.

How do I understand what my business needs to do?

The standards consist of foundational requirements and performance requirements across seven different impact pillars: Purpose & Stakeholder Governance, Fair Work, JEDI, Human Rights, Climate Action, Environmental Stewardship & Circularity, Government Affairs & Collective Action. To understand what your company needs to do to achieve certification, you can log onto the B Impact platform, where you will be able to see your requirements tailored to your business based on your size and sector.

What do I need to know about the new standards compared to previous version?

From B Corp’s inception in 2007 until 2025, certification has operated as a scored system, requiring companies to achieve 80 points. From 2026 onwards, it’s transitioning to a set of minimum requirements that will still be tailored to your company but provide greater consistency and clarity about what it means to be a B Corp. This ensures B Corps are taking meaningful action on the most material social and environmental topics for their industry and society, while requiring companies to maintain and improve upon their performance with each recertification cycle. For more information on the new standards, catch up on our recent on-demand webinar here.

Is it worth measuring our business against the B Corp framework, even if we don’t decide to certify?

Yes, over 300,000 companies are using the B Corp framework to measure their impact. There are many benefits to certification; however, regardless of whether you choose to certify, there’s significant value in using the framework to understand your impact and inspire your sustainability strategy, ensuring you’re incorporating best practices as defined by B Lab and their team of experts.
