My biggest passion is the ocean. Seeing, hearing and feeling it’s power, beauty and life made me choose to live a purposeful life. That meant not only devoting my personal time but also my career to saving our planet. A career in sustainability is what I realised I wanted to do. I am, therefore, delighted to now work as a B Corp consultant at Seismic, helping companies to improve their social and environmental impact.
Indirectly, my work with Seismic will affect the ocean in a positive way. However, I always wanted to explore the ocean more, go on expeditions and have a direct impact on the ‘blue heart of our planet’. So I decided to devote one day a week to the Dutch charity, The Ocean Movement, as the Sales & Partnership coordinator. Every Monday, I volunteer for this amazing charity, it aims to stop plastic flowing into our oceans by conducting research, teaching and activating citizens, organisations and governments. We do this through expeditions, lectures and documentaries, all intended to create systemic behavioral change.
“People ask: Why should I care about the ocean? Because the ocean is the cornerstone of earth’s life support system, it shapes climate and weather. It holds most of life on earth. 97% of earth’s water is there. It’s the blue heart of the planet — we should take care of our heart. It’s what makes life possible for us. We still have a really good chance to make things better than they are. They won’t get better unless we take action and inspire others to do the same thing. No one is without power. Everybody has the capacity to do something.”

It gives me great pleasure to work with such motivated and passionate people who all devote their own time to fight for our oceans. As the name of the charity indicates, we are creating a movement. A movement of ocean ambassadors who are changemakers and a voice for our oceans.
I see similarities with the B Corp movement and its B Leaders, who are the changemakers for a global movement that uses business as a force for good.
I’m very grateful to be able to work with both movements and to know that I can have a positive impact every single day.
